Taiwan Power: 9 new factories will be built worldwide this year, and will be built in Taichung at the end of the year.

The crystal circuit foundry factory Taiwan Power continues to be developed at home and abroad this year. Zhang Zongsheng, deputy general manager of operation, said today that Taiwan Power is expected to build 9 new factories worldwide this year, and revealed that the crystal circuit 25, located in Taichung, will be built at the end of the year, and will have more advanced process technology than 2 nanometers in production in 2028.
Taiwan Electric Taiwan Technology Forum was launched today. Zhang Zongsheng pointed out that Taiwan Electric will build an average of 3 new factories per year from 2017 to 2020, and 5 new factories per year from 2021 to 2024. This year, it will further speed up its pace and plan to build 9 new factories around the world, including 8 wafer factories and 1 advanced packaging factory.
Zhang Zongsheng said that the 20th Crystal Plant in Hsinchu and 22nd in Kaohsiung will be a 2-nanometer mass production base. Both factories will be built in 2022 and are planned to start production this year. Taichung's crystal 25 factory will start construction at the end of this year, and will produce more advanced technologies than 2 nanometers in volume in 2028.
Zhang Zongsheng said that TECHNO planned to build five crystalline factories in Kaohsiung and will provide 2nm, A16 and more advanced process technology.
As for overseas layout, Zhang Zongsheng said that by sharing experiences at different locations, overseas crystal factories have shown stable yields, and the yields of American and Japanese factories are comparable to those of Taiwan’s mother factories.
Zhang Zongsheng said that Taiwan Power continues to expand advanced packaging capacity, the annual synthesis rate of SOIC production capacity will reach 100% from 2022 to 2026, and the annual synthesis rate of CoWoS production capacity will be about 80%.
