U.S. President Donald Trump and European Commission Chairman Ursula von der Leyen announced on Sunday (July 27) that the trade framework was finalized and the European Union's tax on US products would be 15%. Foreign media found that semiconductor equipment produced by manufacturers such as ASML Holding N.V. will be directly exempted from taxes on US fees.

Tom’s Hardware reported on 30th, European Commission (European) Commission) announced on the 27th that the European and American trade structure signed by the European and American trade structure stated that "the two parties have also finalized zero-related taxes for multiple strategic products, including all aircraft and related zero-assemblies, specific chemicals, specific famous medicines, semiconductor equipment, specific agricultural products, natural resources and key raw materials. We will continue to work hard to add more items to this zero-related tax list."

If the United States levies 15% tax on ASML production semiconductor equipment, including deep ultraviolet microshading (DUV) equipment, extreme ultraviolet microshading (EUV) equipment, measurement equipment, testing equipment, testing equipment, etc., it may severely attack chip manufacturers going to US factories, especially for Intel, GlobalFoundries, Samsung, Texas Instruments and Telco.

For example, ASML advanced immersion DUV ArF (fluorinated) equipment used for processes below 10 nanometers costs an average of US$89.615 million per unit, while the price of low-number pore (Low-NA) EUV equipment is about US$265 million, depending on the configuration. If 15% tax is added, the costs of these machines will surge to $103 billion and $305 billion respectively.

In fact, as the US dollar has been heavily valued for the Euro since early February, semiconductor equipment produced in the EU has become much more expensive for American chip manufacturers. If the 15% tax and impact are added, it will definitely be more significant.

If the Trump administration imposes 15% tax on ASML's microfilm, quantity testing and testing equipment, it will seriously increase the cost of chip manufacturers in the United States, and each DUV and EUV equipment will have to pay an additional US$13 million, up to US$40 million.
