After acquiring Arsenal, the Kroenke family allowed the club to develop steadily. Today, Josh Kroenke is seen more in public than his father, Stan Kroenke. The Daily Telegraph talks about Josh Kroenke's influence at Arsenal.

Josh Kroenke often appears in the stands at Arsenal games. He writes articles for match day programs, interacts with fans and welcomes new players. Josh Festein was also named in the recent announcement of changes to the club's board of directors, which led to the sudden departure of executive vice-chairman Tim Lewis.

Lewis has played a vital role in Arsenal's rebuilding over the past five years, and with his departure, the board has been further "Klenke-ized". Lewis left and was replaced by Kelly Braha, Otto Marley and Dave Steiner of Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE). Another addition was successful British Hollywood producer and director Ben Winston, who had a long-standing friendship with Josh.

Sources both inside and outside Arsenal strongly deny that this is "Josh's one-man show." For those in the know, Stan, 78, has not lost any power. Stan remains the final decision-maker when it comes to all major financial decisions at Arsenal, and Josh understands this hierarchy better than anyone, which is particularly evident when it comes to Arsenal's potential stadium expansion plans.

There is no doubt that the tall and bearded Josh is now the more visible and often present Kroenke, and he is the one who invests more time and emotion at Arsenal. And, at 45, Josh is certainly more influential than he was in the first decade of his family's initial involvement with the club. After all, Josh was just 26 when Stan first bought a stake in Arsenal in 2007.

Kroenke Sports and Entertainment has two important milestones in its ownership of Arsenal. The first was in 2018 when they took complete control of the club; the second was the farce of the European Super League in 2021, which was a painful blow to the owners. At the time, anger was running high in north London, with fans even hanging a portrait of Stan outside the Emirates Stadium.

Josh represented Arsenal in that failed Super League project. In a video call with fans, he was bluntly told: "Obviously, you don't know enough about our game and our club." And Josh once said of English football on the "Road Trippin'" podcast: "As an American or foreigner coming into the UK, it is difficult to really understand the passion for these clubs."

Since then, Josh has clearly made an effort. He now attends matches more frequently (both for the men's and women's teams) and sat next to Arteta in the final game of last season while the latter was serving a suspension. When Eze joined from Crystal Palace this summer, Josh was present at the club's training ground and personally approved the £67.5 million deal. In addition, he also attended the PFA Awards Ceremony in August. When Arsenal finalized the appointment of new sporting director Andrea Berta earlier this year, Josh was in the final stages of interviewing candidates.
