Arnautovic's brother and agent recently revealed in an interview with Italian media that the player was very close to joining Manchester United in 2022.

Because of his outstanding performance in Serie A, Arnautovic unexpectedly became the target of offensive recruitment by Manchester United coach Ten Hach at that time, and the Red Devils also regarded it as a cost-effective choice. But after the initial £7.5 million offer was rejected, Manchester United decided not to meet Bologna's asking price.

Anautovic's brother revealed: "He received multiple offers at that time. He was very, very close to joining Manchester United. We have reached an agreement, but Bologna is unwilling to let go."

Although he finally stayed in Bologna, Arnautovic then joined Inter Milan in 2023 and played an important role in the team's reaching the Champions League final. This summer, Arnautovic is once again a free agent and is looking for his next home.
