Sheringham: Rashford must not ask to leave the team by playing badly. His performance is not worthy of Barcelona.
Manchester United legend Sheringham pointed out that Rashford insisted on transferring to Barcelona this summer was a huge mistake. After falling out with Amorin last season, Rashford was loaned to Aston Villa.
Sheringham said in an interview with the media: "I sincerely hope that Rashford will not be like this. A few years ago, Aubameyang was regarded as the 'rotten apple' in the Arsenal locker room. Arteta hoped that he would leave the team, and he eventually went to Barcelona.
" Rashford was unwilling to play for Manchester United. After signing a fat contract, he openly stated that he refused to play, but received his salary. Now he still wants to go to Barcelona? It's simply ridiculous! I sincerely hope this doesn't come true.
"In my opinion, careers shouldn't work like this: when you perform well, of course you can consider transferring to a giant like Barcelona to improve yourself. But you must not ask for a transfer by playing badly - especially to teams that may be higher than your current level. This makes me feel deeply uncomfortable. Rashford's performance in the past few years has not matched a pass to the Camp Nou."
