Serie A Chairman: Italy, Britain, France and Germany agree to close the transfer window before the start of the league, only Tebas opposes
According to Marca, a week before the transfer window was closed, Serie A chairman Simonnelli said he had agreed with the presidents of the German, French and English leagues and hoped to close the transfer window before the start of their respective leagues. However, La Liga president Tebas opposes the proposal.
Simonelli said: "We plan to close the transfer window before the start of their respective seasons. I personally went to London to meet with Premier League executive president Richard Masters. England, Germany and France all agreed, but Spain opposed it. Because the leagues are related, it cannot be achieved if they cannot make a decision together. We are at the risk of losing players but not replacing them."
Simonelli also revealed that he will try to convince Tebas to close the transfer window next year before the start of the season: "We are working on this and hope to convince La Liga president Tebas next year. He is a very smart but difficult person to convince."
Regarding the issue of Serie A games being played abroad, there are also various opinions in Italy. Simonnelli supports Milan’s match against Como in Perth, Australia, which he believes will help increase revenue, and sports like the NBA are doing the same.
"Milan's match against Como in Perth is still an open question and requires some permission, but it has not been obtained yet. Perth is far away, but Australia has a strong interest in Italian football. It is very important for us to show our team abroad and increase revenue, popularity and appeal."
"I don't think too many fans will go to Perth to watch the game, although Milan and Como will organize special trips. Other sports are already doing this: the NBA often plays in Europe, and the Tour de Italy often starts abroad. We need some flexibility, and anyway, I believe Milan will refund some of the season ticket fees to fans."
The top leader of Serie A expressed concern for the 2032 European Cup, because many Italian stadiums are not in good condition. Simonnelli stressed that his country faces the risk of being "disgraceful" in this important event.
"I am very worried about the UEFA Cup 2032. Are there any risks in our bidding qualifications? I hope this is just my concern, but when the UEFA president says our stadium is in a ‘coma’ and the European Cup still has six years, we may not be doing well internationally."
"Udinese is a model, and their blue energy stadium has brought us a good image. But unfortunately, besides Udinese, Atlanta and Juventus , other stadiums are in a ‘coma’ state. Cheferin criticized the Italian stadium sternly, and I agree with him. ”
"We are after all other countries: in the past 18 years, we have only opened six stadiums, three of which are Serie A stadiums. And elsewhere in Europe, there are 226 new stadiums being opened. I am very worried. We urge the government to speed up the process to shut up those useless 'veto committees' and departments that should have protected cultural heritage." ”
