In daily life, have you ever seen a guide dog wearing a red work vest? By the way, do you really know how many guide "dogs" there are in our country? In fact, the requirements for the selection of guide dogs are also very high. So what kind of breed will a guide dog choose? Let’s find out today~

Guide dogs are one of the working dog breeds that have been strictly selected and trained to help blind people live a better life. The more common guide dog breeds include golden retrievers, Labradors, etc. Guide dogs need to have a peaceful mind, intelligence, docility, and high obedience.

In the past, golden retrievers were generally used as hunting dogs. The height of adult dogs is generally about 51-61 cm, and the weight is generally about 25-34 kg. Their average life span is relatively high, generally reaching about 15 years. Moreover, Golden Retrievers have a relatively strong physique, a relatively strong overall immunity, a relatively high IQ among dogs, and a friendly and gentle personality, so they will be selected by many people to become specialized guide dogs.

The Labrador Retriever is a medium-to-large dog breed that is very suitable to be selected as a guide dog or a subway police dog, a search and rescue dog, and other working dogs that often visit public places. Generally, the height of an adult dog is about 54-62 cm, and the weight is about 25-34 kg. Its average lifespan is about 12 years. The Labrador's IQ is relatively high, equivalent to the IQ of a 6-8-year-old child. It is docile and lively, and has a stable temperament, not too slow, but not very lively. It is friendly to people and other animals, so this dog breed is more suitable to become a guide dog after training. After training, the Labrador will be able to become familiar with the owner's frequent travel and activity routes, take his owner to a safe place, and be able to master many of the owner's instructions proficiently.

The guide dogs we often see in TV series or movies are golden retrievers and Labradors. The main reason is that these two dog breeds are better trained and have docile personalities.
