According to incomplete statistics from the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in the first half of this year, there were 50,000 or 60,000 vaccinated patients in our city who were bitten by dogs, cats and other animals. Professionals from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention remind: Beware that dogs and cats are prone to injuring people in midsummer.

The wounds should be treated in time when bitten by pets

The staff of Cangzhou Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention remind that the spread of rabies is mainly caused by animal bites, and if it is scratched and bitten by cats and dogs, the wounds should be treated in time.

Once bitten by a dog or cat, regardless of whether it is a mad dog at that time, the wound must be treated in time according to the following method: If the wound is bleeding, as long as it does not bleed too much, do not rush to stop the bleeding, because the outflow of blood can wash away the remaining mad dog saliva from the wound, which can naturally have a certain disinfection effect. For wounds that are not bleeding a lot, squeeze and bleed from the proximal end to the wound to facilitate detoxification. At the same time, the wound must be thoroughly cleaned as soon as possible within two hours after the injury to reduce the chance of rabies. Use a clean brush, which can be a toothbrush or gauze, and repeatedly brush the wound with thick soapy water, especially deep in the wound, and rinse it with clean water in time. Do not refuse to brush carefully due to pain, and the brushing time should last at least 30 minutes. After rinsing, apply the wound several times with 70% alcohol or 50-70 degrees white wine. Under no anesthesia, the pain is more obvious when applying, and the wounded should be mentally prepared. After applying, the wound does not need to be bandaged and can be left naked. For new and old wounds that are scratched, licked, and contaminated by dogs in other parts, they should be treated equally as bites. After the above wound is treated, the injured should be taken to a nearby hospital or vaccination clinic as soon as possible to receive rabies vaccination injection. If the wound is deep or the key parts of the face are bitten, rabies immunoglobulin must be injected at the same time.

The staff repeatedly reminded patients who were bitten by animals that after being bitten, they should go to the vaccination clinic near their homes as soon as possible to get rabies vaccine, preferably within 24 hours. If they are their own pet dogs, they can be extended to within 48 hours. Patients with mild or severe bites must receive 5 shots of the vaccine and finish within 28 days. The interval between each two shots is 3 days, 4 days, one week and two weeks respectively. If you are a person who is bitten particularly severely, such as those with more than 3 wounds, you should also inject serum before receiving rabies vaccine injection and infiltrate the subcutaneous muscles around the wound to neutralize the rabies virus.

How to prevent dog bites in summer

If you have a dog, please take care of your pet, get vaccinated in time, and pay attention to your own safety to avoid being bitten by dogs or hurting others. If you go out with your pet, be sure to use a rope to avoid any injuries caused by scaring the pet when going out. If your pet dog is tired of raising it, you must find a home for it. Never bombard it with the house and make it a stray dog, which will cause safety hazards to society and others.

Also remind readers who are walking or leisure outdoors should try to avoid places with many pets such as cats and dogs, and do not touch or make fun of unfamiliar pets for no reason. Especially for those who take their children out, they must avoid the pets on the road when they see them. Because children will have a strong curiosity about cats, dogs and other animals and go forward to caress them. These animals are particularly impulsive to unfamiliar people and are prone to accidents. Parents who take care of their children must keep their children at a certain distance from cats, dogs and other pets.

Learning to identify signs of dog biting can also help avoid biting. When the dog's ears are tightly pressed against its head, its legs are tightly stretched, and the hair on its back is standing up, you have to be careful. If it screams fiercely and reveals its teeth and even its gums, then this guy is really planning to bite people. What if you feel like a dog is going to bite someone? Don't panic. Just run away or wave your arms to chase the dog. It is likely that you will be chased and bitten, because sudden actions may be seen as provocation or threatening, causing the dog to attack. The correct way is to keep moving first and look at the ground - never stare into the dog's eyes, wait for a few seconds, and then slowly walk away. If you look at the dog, it will make the dog very nervous. Especially when a dog is in a state of attacking a person, looking at its eyes will make it more likely to anger it and it will easily make it attack you actively. If the dog has already pounced on you, remember to protect your head, face and throat with your arms. Once a dog bites, if you want to save a person, don’t go there naked. Chairs, long sticks and other things that threaten the dog at a distance are the best. At this time, "short weapons" are useless. Try to use something stronger as much as possible to prevent the rescuer from being bitten by the dog.

If you see stray dogs moving in the community when you go out, don't scold them loudly or drive them away with tools. Some stray dogs are easily angered after being scolded. If the scolding person is unarmed, he is easily injured by stray dogs. Therefore, don't blindly scold stray dogs.

Who is responsible for dog biting?

Article 78 of my country's Tort Liability Law stipulates that unless the dog owner can prove that the damage was caused by the victim's intentional or gross negligence, he or she shall bear the liability for compensation. He said that according to relevant laws and regulations of our country, if the animals raised cause damage to others, the animal breeder or manager shall bear the tort liability. If a pet dog is frightened and bites, the owner will bear no fault responsibility. That is, the owner shall bear the liability for tort damages even if he is not at all at fault. If it can be proved that it was caused by the victim's intentional or gross negligence, the liability may be exempted or reduced.
