Eder: I had a chance to go to Leicester City to win the Premier League in 2016, but Mancini convinced me

Former Italian international Eder played for Inter Milan for two and a half seasons. In January 2016, he left Sampdoria to join Inter Milan on a loan + buyout basis. Before that, he had the opportunity to join Leicester City and become a member of the "Blue Fox Miracle". Edel said this was the biggest regret of his career.
He said: "I could have been the player behind Vardy, everything had been agreed at that time, but Mancini and Ausilio (then Inter Milan sporting director) made me change my mind. I still remember Ranieri's words, which were full of gentlemanly demeanor, and he said: ' If you want to enjoy football like a kid, come to us. 'I went to Inter Milan, but there were few opportunities to play, and Leicester City won the Premier League championship."
In August 2024, Edel announced his retirement at the age of 37. Talking about future plans, Edel said: "I want to be a sporting director, but now I enjoy spending time with my family. I would have liked to return to Sampdoria to end my career. I still occasionally look back on the goals I scored during my playing career. It was really a good time."
